Callejon de Hamel

A local artist has covered all the walls in the little alley called Callejon de Hamel. See evocative murals in stunning colours, a Santeria shrine, art galleries and amazing sculptures everywhere. Great stop as part of a city tour around Havana.

If you’re staying close by then take a walk to the arts alley at Callejon de Hamel, other wise visit as part of a Havana city tour.

It’s probably not worth going out of your way for, the alley is not very big and you’ll be through it quite quickly. At least on a tour you’ll get a rundown of what’s what and the history behind the arts alley.

Very colourful with lots going on, the alleyway was created by local artist Salvador Gonzalez. Apparently if you go on a Sunday between 12 and 3pm he could host an Afro-Cuban rumba.
