Take a day trip to the gorgeous beaches east of Havana in Playa del Este. The bus leaves from Parque Central every 30mins as is only $5 CUC. The beaches are 26k from Havana. Hop on and off along the way.
Beach Experience
Just a short walk from the bus stop and you’re on a stunning white sandy beach.
We’ve been to Varadero and this beach is much quieter with far less people. Mind you there are far less resorts as well. Hire a beach chair and relax for the rest of the day.
Try a delicious fresh coconut juice with a dash of rum, your waiter is roaming the beach looking for you! We walked for about 30mins along the beach and reached the first bus stop drop off point and caught the bus back from here.
Depending on the time of year youre in Havana, the bus can fill up fast so get there early. We went in mid Nov and some people missed out as it was full. But when we were there in Sept the bus wasn’t so full.

Our Opinion
Excellent value and well worth a day out to the beach. The water was clean and clear, just perfect for swimming. Not very crowed either, wonderful!
How to Get There
The bus leaves from Parque Central, Havana, starting at 9am, the last bus returns at 6pm. It’s a hop on and hop off along the way, just keep hold of your ticket. We stayed on the bus till it got to the end at Hotel Atlantico, it then travels back the same way to Havana.
This has to be the cheapest bus trip in Cuba, at just $5 CUC per person for a round trip in a modern air con bus out to the beach.
