Of the eastern Islands the largest Island Sao Miguel, is a natural wonder, with powerful geysers and hot pools. Long considered the entrance hub of the Azores, this Island alone has so much to offer that many people never make it to any of the others.
From beautiful lakes and numerous hikes across the distinctly hilly landscape, you will find many geological such as volcanic craters, beautiful v-shaped luscious green valleys and steep seaside cliffs.
Sao Miguel also has the distinction of being one of the largest whale sanctuaries in the world. These lovely mammals and friendly dolphins are available to see on many truly breathtaking tours off the island coastlines.
Birding is also another popular activity, with many unique species in the region including the endangered Azores Bullfinch.
