El Nido – Heaven on Earth
El Nido or the “heaven on earth “is currently ranked number one on Conde Nast traveler’s list of “20 most beautiful beaches in the world” for its extraordinary natural splendor and ecosystem CNNGo has called it the best beach and island destination in the Philippines. El Nido is well famous for its coral reefs, white sand beaches, limestone cliffs and as the gateway to the Bacuit archipelago.
With 45 islands and islets, El Nido covers a land area of 465.1 square kilometers. When the Spaniards colonized the Philippines the town was under the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Taytay which was renamed to Bacuit when it formally became independent at 1916.Later it was changed to El Nido on June 17 1954 after the edible nest found in its limestone cliffs. Since it was quite remote from other islands of Philippines it wasn’t until 1979 the world discovered the beauty of El Nido. Soon the Philippine government recognizing its ecological importance declared it “managed resource protected area” in 1998.
El Nido primarily has two seasons summer and monsoon. December to may, generally, a dry season and April and May are typically wet seasons. Diving is best during the months of March to May because of good surface conditions.
El Nido has a population of 30,249 according to 2007 census. Lio airport is the sole airport serving the town of El Nido.As there are no telephone lines, resorts, and other tourists facilities rely on the satellite phone for communication. Majority of the population rely on cellular networks for communication. For all its beauty and natural views El Nido is very much famous for the beautiful beaches and the wonderful skies. El Nido is also home to the rare Black snapper.
The sea condition in El Nido from slight directly related to the tidal conditions, usually divers can swim back to the boat without difficulty. The temperature in the waters are generally between 24 °C to 26 °C.

The island has all the three modes of transportation, Sea, Air and Water. El Nido Airport is also known as Lio airport and is the primary and sole airport serving service to El Nido.
Communication services here is a bit in the low side there are no telephone services that operates in El Nido. Most of the services are based on satellite phone communication. There are few mobile communication centers for smartphone users. There are few other establishments with Wi-Fi and internet access. The amazing beaches and natural beauty here will definitely lose track of your internet social life. El Nido is the best place for retirement tours and vacations. Usually not recommended for business tours as communication services are poor. Great place to visit if you have a family trip in mind.
