Known for its clear white sand, this beach is the tropical paradise that everyone seeks when they go to Bohol.
Situated on Panglao Island the beach is 1.5kms in length and is bordered by rocks on both sides. In its secluded area, Alona Beach is now considered to be the perfect place to kick back with a beer and while you enjoy the crystal blue ocean. Surrounding the beach is a metropolis of bars and restaurants and activity, and it’s easy to see why, as this place is considered to be the major hub of Panglao.
On the beach itself, there are frequently people barbequing under palm trees, while they laze and soak up the sun.
For anyone who would rather dine out here, there are many options, as the cuisine is truly international. Whether its Italian, French or even Suisse, there are many restaurants to cater to different taste buds.
Although the nightlife isn’t thriving in Alona, it’s not inactive either, as there are frequent opportunities to listen to live music, which usually differs between different genres, depending on the night.
Of course, like other places in the Bohol coast, the coastline at Alona Beach is exceptional for diving and snorkeling where the crystal clear waters here are home to an amazing diversity of marine life. House reef, which sits 100m away from the shoreline, has many different reef fish, from Coleman shrimps to the Harlequin Ghost Pipefish and this is considered to be one of the best reefs to visit in Bohol.
For anyone who decides to come and stay here accommodation prices near Alona Beach are flexible. The hotels range from luxury suites, all the way down to standard backpack traveling hostels so there is something for everyone.
