To the South of Corvo one of the most impressive islands by far, is Flores. Stretching an area of 143 sq kilometres, this western archipelago has everything from green hills, lagoons, steep cliffs and many, many waterfalls.
As the microclimate results in the island receiving a particularly large amount of rain, this has allowed a great variety of exotic species to flourish, particularly in the forest park Fazenda.
Due to the high precipitation rates on this island and the rugged terrain it has become particularly appealing for those who kayak or canoe. The extensive lakes and amazing underwater habitats, also attract a lot of divers to the Island.
