Costa Adeje Restaurants

Eating out in Costa Adeje is also great. Holidaymakers may find variety of cafes and restaurants in Costa Adeje along the beautiful coastline and promenade area of Costa Adeje and enjoy the local cuisine, traditional tapas, international dishes and fresh seafood.

Tenerife’s traditional cooking is one of the best of all Tenerife attractions. There are many well restaurants in Tenerife with international cuisine in the tourist areas that offer island cooking based on fresh local produce (excellent fish, meat, vegetables and fruit).

Mixed vegetable stews and fish casseroles, both accompanied, if one wishes, by the traditional toasted Canary flour (El Gofio) and chickpea dishes are the most typical as for the first course.

As for the fish dishes; ”la vieja” is an island species and the most appreciated fish that has fine white meat like the sama and the cherne. The sardine and the chicharro are among the most popular fresh water fish to taste in Tenerife.

Pork is the most popular meat. The ”festival meat“ and also “conejo en salmorejo” served mainly in the countryside is the most popular pork dish.

The ”papas arrugadas” with green or red garlic sauce stand out above the rest as a side dish. The small and buttery potatoes that the island produces have an extraordinary flavour and by themselves are a delicious dish.

As for wines; the young wines of the north of the island of Tacoronte-Acentejo origin are an excellent accompaniment to Tenerife cuisine.

In addition; following the island custom and visiting the “Guachinches” is the best way of tasting the traditional dishes with a glass of the local wine in Tenerife.

These are typical establishments to which the people of Tenerife flock like pilgrims at the weekend.

Most of the Guachinches are found along the roads in the regions of Geneto, la Esperanza, Tacoronte and Acentejo on the outskirts of la Laguna.
