We jumped in the car and drove down to Punta Gorda to visit the stunning palace there. The Palacio de Valle in Cienfuegos is now a restaurant with excellent views from the roof top.
Located in Punta Gorda is this stunning palace built in 1917 for a rich Spanish merchant. Youre free to walk around the restaurant area downstairs but if you want to see the view from the top or take any photos itll cost you $2 CUC.
We paid the $2 CUC and walked up the stairs to the roof top. Our entry fee included a drink as well, we got to choose from a Ron Collins (a Mojito without the mint), lemon drink or a Cobra Libra (rum & coke). Not too bad, nice and cool.
The views of Cienfuegos are pretty cool from up here. We could see on the horizon the nuclear plant that was not completed by the Russians.
We decided to have lunch in the restaurant but the menu seemed like it was all geared for dinner. So we asked if there were any sandwiches – yes. The normal ham and cheese was not on offer, we got one chicken and one pork sandwich at a pricy $7 CUC each. They were really big and very tasty.
Our Opinion
For $2 CUC each you get a free drink on the roof top with lovely views over Cienfuegos. The Palace itself is stunning and worth a look.
