We really enjoyed our stay with Lily at her casa Orula Chango in Trinidad. Lily was very helpful and looked after us really well. Safe street parking. Shared space with own room.
The Airbnb map marker was spot on and we found it quite easy to find Casa Orula Chango in Trinidad. Lily was not there to meet us however another lady was, she couldn’t speak a word of english but showed us to our room.
Our room was upstairs, as no one else was there we had the choice of 3 rooms, we chose the one furtherest from the main street. We had more than enough space with two double beds air con. We had to ask for a fan but Lily quickly provided this. The bathroom had plenty of hot water in the shower, no soap and a broken shower head which meant it wouldn’t stay up, but this was the best bathroom of all 3 rooms.
We slept really well, it was super quiet being at the back of the house away from the road, not that the road was that noisy anyway. The location was good with a 10min walk to the restaurants and shops.
We only had one dinner, which wasn’t that good so we decided to eat out for the rest. For convience we had breakfast everyday which was $5 CUC, it was ok, we didn’t like the fruit juice it wasn’t freshly squeezed like other casa’s and the coffee was terrible, good job we had our own. We ate on the rooftop in the little restaurant they have created there.
For only $25 NZ ($18 USD) this casa was good value and Lily was great, athough she did decide to have a party one day (we were invited) but the music was unbelievable loud, good thing it stopped at around 10pm. When booking through airbnb the write up gave you the impression you had an apartment to yourself, however this is not the case, you get a room with a key and share everthing else.
