Not sure if we went on the wrong day, after paying $2.50 CUC each to enter the Botanical Gardens just out of Cienfuegos, there was no guide and the place was overgrown and totally run down.
On our drive back from the Fort we decided to take another route which took us past the Botanical Gardens, it wasn’t really out of our way at all. At the gate we paid our $2.50 CUC each for the fee.
The entrance looked inviting lined with big palm trees, but that’s as interesting as it got. We arrived at the car park to find a restaurant and a building with some ferns in it. There were no signs on where to go or what to do.
We asked the guy at the restaurant and he pointed to the overgrown grass with a tiny track going through it. As there was no guide we headed off ourselves only to turn around after about 5 mins, saying what a waste of time this is. Without a guide you have no idea what anything is, but also the whole place is so run down and overgrown, it’s not pleasent at all.
Don’t waste your time or money on the place.
