Catedral de San Cristobal

Located in the Plaza de la Catedral in Old Havana, you’ll find the stunning San Cristobal Cathedral. Hopefully it will be open, take a walk to the top of the bell tower for just $1CUC, well worth it.

The San Cristobal Cathedral is in the exquisite cobbled square in Habana Vieja in the Plaza de la Catedral. It’s meant to be open Mon to Sat 10.30am to 2pm and Sunday 9am to 12pm, but more often then not it’s closed except for Mass which is held Mon, Tue, Thurs and Fri 7.15am and 8.15pm and Sun 8.30am.

You can enter for free and walk around taking photos, it’s a stunning church and well worth a look around. The entrance to the bell tower can be missed quite easily if you’re not looking out for the sign, although if you walk through the only big open doors you can’t go wrong.

The man there will take $1 CUC from you before you can enter. It’s quite high with lots of viewing floors along the way. Stunning views of the fortress El Morro from the very top.

Our Opinion

Fantastic, worth a walk around and go up the bell tower for stunning views.
