La Pina de Plata restaurant is on the opposite corner to El Floridita at the beginning of Old Havana and such a bargain. For only $12 CUC we got dinner for 2 including beers and dessert with no added tax!
Considering this restaurant is so close to El Floridita with nice tables, air con and modern, youd expect it to be pretty pricey. Then we looked at the menu, wow so cheap, ok what’s wrong with this place then.
Seating
We took a look inside, it was half empty. Alright well give it a go. We’ve now been to La Pina de Plata restaurant 3 times and each time we get the same experience, really good value for money but dreadful service.
Even with an over half empty restaurant and more staff then customers the service is still really bad. We were forever having to get their attention to order. Then the wait for food was sometimes really slow or just slow.
However we put up with all that simply because the meal was so cheap and tasty plus you can hook into the WiFi from El Floridita right from your table, if you have an internet card.
Eating Experience
If you choose a meal from the section on the menu under the heading Tables youll get an all inclusive deal. F
or just $5.50 CUC we enjoyed the Chicken with Peppers with a cold beer and flan with coffee sauce for dessert.
And for just $6.50 CUC you get the Pork with onion sauce which also includes a cold beer and flan for dessert.
The menu does say the deal is with ice cream but they didn’t have any so flan it was. Everything was really tasty and plenty of it.
Just watch the bill, they tried to add another couple more beers onto one of our bills once, but quickly took them off when we showed it to them.
Our Opinion
Super cheap at only $12 CUC (no extra tax added) for 2 main meals including 2 cold Cristal Beers and 2 flans for dessert in an air con nice restaurant.
An Americano coffee is only $1.50 CUC. If you can put up with the bad service then you’ll enjoy your very cheap meal at La Pina de Plata restaurant. Good WiFi here too.
