This is the best way to see Havana, take a private tour and see Old Havana first hand with a nice slow horse and buggy tour.
We couldn’t go past the line up of horses with their cute buggies and guides all waiting to take us on a tour. Make sure youre guide can speak good English. The tour took us at a slow pace around the streets of Old Havana while our guide pointed out all the landmarks and the history around them.
Tour Experience
We stopped at a government run shop selling quality cigars and rum, where we tried some very tasty rum. Didn’t buy any cigars on this trip although there seemed to be a lot on offer.
The rum here was a little more expensive ($5.90 CUC) than buying it at the local supermarket or shops for only $4.45 CUC, still cheap no matter which way you look at it.
The last stop was at the Buena Vista Social Club because they wanted us to book the music show which we had asked about. Good WiFi is available here (not free), bring your Etecsa internet card. The tour was about an hour and a half in total.
Our Opinion
Guide spoke very good English, service was excellent, got to see a lot of great sights in Old Havana. Would recommend this tour at $30 CUC per buggy.
