In one of the guide books, it said San Jose Restaurant was meant to be the second best restaurant in Trinidad. We didn’t think so, although we only tried the pizza. The dessert was really good though.
After reading about San Jose Restaurant being the second best restaurant in town (after La Redaccion – add link to this page) we thought wed better go try it out.
Seating
The restaurant wasn’t hard to find on my maps app which was good. Inside the restaurant it looked really nice, with soft lighting and great decorations. The service was quick with very friendly staff. We sat in the front section which wasn’t air conditioned, but there was another room further back that was.
Eating Experience
As Id hear the pizza was meant to be amazing, we ordered a Margarita and added bacon and onion to it. Cost was $4.95 CUC for the basic cheese pizza plus $1 CUC for each extra, which was a bit expensive really considering there wasn’t that much onion even on it.
It was a bit dissappointing and nothing like the pizza we are used to. I know it’s Cuba but it really isn’t that hard to make a half decent pizza. Not enough toppings with an extremely skinny, super crunchy base.
The best part of the meal was the coconut icecream with cream caramel at $2.50 CUC. Although we were given three little very fresh buns with what was meant to be an olive and olive oil spread (was a little too salty) for free as a starter, that was a nice touch.
Our Opinion
Wouldn’t eat the pizza again, wasn’t very tasty. However the dessert was really nice. I guess some of the other main meals might be a better choice. Wouldn’t bother going back again.
